About this work

On a city square many soldiers are gathered around a gallows. A man hangs at the top of the gallows on a rope. On the right in the foreground a soldier with hands bound behind his back. On the left in the background four prisoners on a wooden horse. Below the image a blank margin. This print is part of a series of 17 (18 including title print) prints with depictions of various kinds of miseries that warfare brings with it.
