Ten European coins

Ten European coins, depicted in two columns of five. This print is part of a series of ten prints depicting coins that were in circulation in Europe between 1522 and 1629, mainly in Germany and Italy. The obverse and reverse of each coin are shown side by side, connected by a cartouche with the letters AR (argentum - silver) or AV (aureum - gold). The silver coins occupy the first nine sheets and part of the tenth sheet, which further mainly shows gold coins.
