About this work
A peasant woman with a wicker basket in her right hand, left hand held out begging, seen from the right, depicted twice: on the right as an outline, on the left more developed with shading. In the background, a few dancing and music-making figures and spectators. This print is part of a series of 16 prints (15 according to Lieure; 17 or 16 including title print) with men and women in various poses. These prints may have been intended as drawing models.
