About this work
Sheet with 24 depictions from the life of Saartje Jans, the kitchen maid. In the early scenes she works as a kitchen maid but is dismissed for using too much expensive peat for cooking. She then becomes a soldier. Below each image is a two-line verse in Dutch and French. Numbered top center: n 116.
