About this work

Sheet with 24 scenes from the story of Carolien and chimney sweep Jan. Two rejected suitors of the proud Carolien send her a chimney sweep whom they have richly dressed and provided with plenty of money. Carolien falls in love and marries the supposed nobleman, who the day after the wedding reveals what he really is. Below each image a two-line verse. Numbered top right: No. 29.
