About this work

Christ heals a mute man possessed by a demon with a blessing gesture. The possessed man is held by two men. The devil flies out of his mouth. The subject is based on Matthew 9:32-34 and Luke 11:14-16. In the Statenvertaling it is described as follows: "As they went out, behold, they brought to Him a man who was mute and possessed by a demon. And when the demon was cast out, the mute man spoke." In the Nieuwe Bijbelvertaling 21 it is: "While they were leaving the house, someone was brought to Him who was possessed and could not speak. After the demon was cast out, the mute man began to speak."
