About this work
A large rock in the sea, with a staircase carved in the stone, leading to a fortress or city. At the foot of the rock also a few houses. On the water around the rock a few small boats, some of them half sunk. Right in the foreground three moored ships and a small boat before a strip of coast, on which figures are busy building a tent and cooking food. This print is part of a series of 11 Italian (probably mainly Florentine) landscapes (12 including title page).
