About this work
View of a square in Nancy (Place de la Carrière or Rue Neuve) in front of the ducal palace, lined with houses. On this square various festivities and performances take place, probably on the occasion of carnival. Thus acrobats, pageant wagons and a jousting match are visible. Above the image the coat of arms of the Duke of Lorraine, carried by two eagles, with around it a scroll with French text.
