About this work

Procession of the Doge on Ascension Day over St. Mark's Square in Venice. The procession leads to the Bucintoro, the Doge's galley. Once a year the Doge 'married' the Adriatic Sea in a ceremonial manner during the Festa della Sensa by throwing a ring into the water from this galley.
