About this work
Apollo and Neptune build the walls of Troy in service of Laomedon, the king of Troy. He refuses to pay them, whereupon Neptune sends a sea monster to destroy Troy. In the background Hesione, the daughter of Laomedon, who is rescued by Hercules after being chained to a rock as an offering to the sea monster.
