About this work
A group of three men and a young boy have gathered for singing. Known for his irreverent behaviour, the jester holds a pair of glasses as a symbol of his deceptive nature. In the Renaissance, making music could be associated with foolish or immoral conduct. Nevertheless, musicians were frequently called upon to provide entertainment at celebratory occasions.
