About this work
One of a series of six. Son (Filius Prodigus) at table with Lust (Caro) and Greed (Avaritia). Personification of the world (Mundus) tramples Conscience (Conscientia). Selfishness (Proprum Commudum) steals the money bag. Behind him stand Transience (Vanitas), Heresy (Haeresis) and Reason (Ratio), who plays a bagpipe. Above the scene in a cloud the spirit of Error and Fanaticism (Spiritus Erronei & Fanatici).
