Portrait of Captain Louis Marie, Count van Welderen, wearing the distinction he received for his part in the Battle of the Dogger Bank on his chest. In the background a stormy sea and a ship. In the middle below in the margin a coat of arms. Van Welderen perished with the state ship d'Unie on 19 October 1782 during a severe storm on the North Sea.
