About this work
The personification of the Church, a female figure with papal tiara and staff, looks up. On the clouds sit Mary with Child, among four bishops of Liège: Maternus, Servatius of Maastricht, Lambert of Maastricht and Hubert. Opposite the personification of the Church stands the personification of the city of Liège, a woman with a staff in her hand. In front of her kneels a putto with a mitre in his hands for the Church. On the right a statue, to which six shields hang. In the background in the landscape the city of Liège.
