About this work
The scholar Paulus Merula (1558-1607) at the age of 44: bust to the right, in an oval with name and text in border inscription. The scholar is dressed in a mantle trimmed with a wide fur collar, above which the pleated collar can be seen. He wears a moustache and a pointed beard.
