About this work

The procession consists of five rows of historical figures representing fifteen periods. Top left the Batavians are depicted, pulling the Maypole on a cart among others. Following are the Roman era, the time of Emperor Constantine, the time of Charlemagne, a hunting procession during the reign of Count Floris V, the time of Count William III of Hainaut, the time of Emperor Charles V, the time of Prince William I, the time of Prince Maurice, the time of Prince Frederick Henry, the time of Prince William II, the time of Prince William III, the time of Prince William IV, the time of Prince William V, and a wagon in honor of the kingship in the Netherlands.
