About this work

The sitter sits and leans with his right arm on the table next to him. On the table lie a tablecloth and sheets of paper. He wears a tied cravat and a knighthood order. Under the portrait is the name. Part of a series of twelve portraits after daguerreotypes and twelve city views. On the occasion of the Music Festival celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Society for the Promotion of Music in Rotterdam, 12-15 July 1854.
