About this work

Belgian soldiers have climbed aboard the boat and overpower the Dutch soldiers. To the right of the center stands Van Speyk with his left hand in the air, ready to blow up the boat. To the left by a cannon lies a soldier with his eyes directed to the sky. In the middle a soldier waves the Dutch flag.
