About this work
Altar stone dedicated to the indigenous goddess Nehallennia. This is presumably an altar stone that was washed ashore or fished up in Zeeland, near Domburg or Colijnsplaat. The weathered representation shows Nehallennia seated on a chair, a dog and a pillar, on which a fruit basket may have stood (fixed attributes of this goddess).
