About this work

Representation of the first intermezzo during the performance of the play 'La Pellegrina' by Girolamo Bargagli: The spheres sit and stand in rows on clouds. For the six intermezzi of Giovanni de'Bardi the machines and costumes were designed by Bernardo Buontalenti. This performance was on the occasion of the marriage of Ferdinando I de'Medici and Christina of Lorraine in 1589.
