About this work

Bird's-eye view of the battlefield around Vienna. In the foreground the Ottoman army led by Sultan Süleyman I, which besieged Vienna for the second time in September 1532. On the other side of the Danube the Habsburg army led by Emperor Charles V is positioned. In the middle ground the battle for Vienna is taking place. Several surrounding geographical locations are depicted on the print. In the middle bottom a cartouche with a twelve-line text in Latin.
