About this work
An old man, possibly a war veteran, with a bandaged foot and on crutches, is led to the King by the gentleman of the bedchamber. The text in the lower margin states that he did not dare to approach the King because of his clothing. On the right the King receiving petitions. With a three-line inscription. Part of the series of 24 plates with encounters with King William I, published under the title 'Les rencontres' in 1829-1830.
