About this work

The wife of Asdrubal jumps together with her two children into the flames of the burning temple of Esculapius. She kills her children as punishment for Asdrubal, who had betrayed the city by secretly surrendering to the Romans. Asdrubal, standing next to Emilianus, raises his arms in the air. Below the image a four-line text in Latin.
