About this work
Saint Sebastian is tied to a tree on the right and is tortured by an executioner. He stands diagonally behind Sebastian and aims his arrow and bow at the saint. On the ground lies a quiver and the executioner has a supply of arrows stuck in his boot. The artist had to find a solution in the composition for the depiction of Sebastian in front view and the shooting executioner who aims his arrows at the body.
