About this work

French gentleman, seen from the back at an angle, the right hand leaning on a long wooden hammer (used for the malie game) a sword along the left side. He wears a doublet on a calf-breeches and boots with wide turn-downs and spurs on high heels. His cape is worn over the left shoulder, 'à la Balagny'. Hat with two plumes. In the background the malie game is played on a malie field.
