About this work
Christ kneels with raised arms on the Mount of Olives and looks to heaven where three putti appear in his vision with a cross and a chalice with a host. In the foreground the three disciples Peter, James, and John lie sleeping. To the rear Judas approaches, followed by a group of soldiers. Top left are the electoral and ducal arms of Saxony on two small shields.
