About this work

The apostle Thomas kneels before an altar in a church and is stabbed to death by a soldier with a spear. Behind them stands a group of men including the Indian priest who ordered this martyrdom. In the upper left on the wall hang two shields bearing the electorate and duchy arms of Saxony.
