Saint Simon the Zealot sawn in half

The apostle Simon Zelotes is sawn in half while he is bound head down to a construction of wooden poles. Two men hold the saw at the ends and move it up and down at the level of the saint's torso. Men on horseback and soldiers are witnesses of this martyrdom. In the background stand buildings on rocks. In the middle above two shields are depicted bearing the electorate and duchy arms of Saxony.
