About this work
Saint Anthony is attacked by demons in a hallucination during his stay in the desert. He floats in the air among strange creatures composed of various animal body parts. In the lower right, the cave of Anthony is depicted next to a tree and a distant view with a city on a river in a landscape. In the tree above hang two shields bearing the electorate and duchy arms of Saxony.
