About this work
Tournament in Wittenberg organized by the court of Saxony. Knights on horseback ride into each other while trying to unseat their opponent with lances. In the back left, a group of musicians, seated on horses, are blowing trumpets and beating drums. On a balcony, the nobility stands as spectators. Two shields against the wall show the ducal and electoral coat of arms of Saxony.
