About this work
The altar with Elijah's sacrifice is ignited by God with fire as a sign of his power. To the left stand the Baal priests who in vain tried to make their sacrifice burn, to the right kneels Elijah while he calls upon God. In the margin of the image is the text III Regvm XVIII [2 Kings 18].
