About this work
A band of highwaymen attacks travellers in a wooded landscape. The robbers search the carriage while the travellers are attacked and try to flee. In the foreground a rider is shot at by two men. On the left three men with spears attack a second rider. Further into the woods a man hangs from a noose in a tree.
