About this work

Venus gives Amor the guise of Ascanius, the son of Aeneas. The sleeping Ascanius is lifted by Venus, Amor prepares to depart disguised as Ascanius to the feast of Queen Dido. The print is part of a six-part series of prints with scenes from the mythological story of Dido and Aeneas.
