About this work

Soldiers place a crown of thorns on the head of Christ, who is seated before a building. Three men watch from a balcony. This print is a counter-etching (contre-épreuve) of a print that is part of the unfinished print series 'The Great Passion', consisting of 7 scenes from the Passion narrative.
