About this work
Rennenberg swears at night kneeling before an image of Christ on the cross, loyalty to Spain while Farnese stands next to him, 1580. This print forms part of a series of 24 prints depicting scenes from the life of Prince William I, 1568-1584, and is an illustration to the twenty-second canto.
