About this work

Battlefield on an open plain, where infantry and cavalry stab at each other with swords and spears. On the right in the foreground a figure is almost trampled by a horse, while an infantryman with his spear attempts to pierce a rider. Behind the infantryman with the spear a man attempts to crawl away from the battlefield. This print forms part of a six-part series on cavalry battles.
