About this work

The martyrdom of Boniface and his 53 followers at Dokkum, in the year 754. Boniface stands in front of one of his tents in the midst of a group of soldiers. Several soldiers have drawn their swords. On the left stands a warrior who draws his sword from its scabbard to behead the two kneeling followers of the bishop.
