About this work
St. Stephen is stoned with large stones in the vicinity of a city or palace. In the sky appear the Holy Trinity and angels. This print is part of (the second state of) a series of 29 views of paintings and sculptures in churches in Rome, numbered 1-16 and 1-13. (The first state of this series, in which the prints are unnumbered, also includes a title print).
