About this work

Saint Jerome sits, scantily clad, in the open air by a cross, the lion at his feet. Six men stand listening to him. This print is part of (the second [?] state of) a series of 29 representations of paintings and sculptures in churches in Rome, numbered 1-16 and 1-13. (The first state of this series, in which the prints are unnumbered, also includes a title page).
