About this work

Title page with landscape and two figures from the fables and stories in the book for which this illustration was designed. On the right stands a man with cattle and on the left stands a man in a small boat. Birds fly at the opening of a cave in the rock wall in the background. The whole is framed in a rectangular frame composed of woven branches and fine foliage. On the ground lies a large stone with the text Je porte cette pierre depuis 50 ans. In front of it lie two snakes.
