About this work

Representation of an eagle flying with its young towards the sun. Below them a coastal landscape. Above and below this print Latin and French texts in letterpress. This sheet is part of the emblem series 'Life of Mary in Emblems'. The first state of this series includes, besides a title page and 26 emblems, also three sheets with hymns to Mary in letterpress without images.
