About this work

Representation of two adult dolphins and a baby dolphin, swimming near a beach on which a dead crocodile lies. Above and below this print Latin and French texts in letterpress. This sheet is part of the emblem series 'Life of Mary in Emblems'. The first state of this series includes, besides a title page and 26 emblems, also three sheets with hymns to Mary in letterpress without images.
