About this work
A saint with a bow (Sebastian?), a saint with a crucifix (Francis of Assisi?) and a saint with a blooming lily kneeling before a cloth held up by two angels, above which Christ appears in the clouds. Above and below this print Latin and French texts in type. This sheet is the illustrated title page for the emblem series 'Monastic Life in Emblems'. The second state of this series includes, besides an illustrated title page and 26 emblems, a title page and a dedication page, both in text only.
