About this work
In the presence of soldiers and citizens Cambyses, king of Persia, directs his scepter at the newly appointed judge Otanes. Otanes succeeds his father, Sisamnes, after this one was flayed alive as punishment for accepting bribes. As a warning the flayed skin of the dishonest judge hangs above the seat of Otanes.
