About this work
One mythological and two allegorical depictions, made for a book edition of the plays of Paul Scarron. Left: Scarron writing is surrounded by Melpomene (with mask) and a laurel-wreathed angel who both blow the trumpet, in the background a boy with shell and Apollo with his lyre look on. Middle: The battle of the gods and giants. Right: Minerva leads Scarron to a place where Apollo with his nine Muses makes music.
