About this work

The giantess Gargamella is already eleven months pregnant when she must give birth during a large drinking and eating feast. Her son Gargantua is born from her left ear instead of from her womb, because she has eaten too many entrails. A group of women rushes to Gargamella's aid, in the background her husband Grandgosier tells listeners a story.
