About this work
The Dominican sits kneeling before an altar where two angels fly above. He is clad in a habit on which at the height of his heart the letters IHS - Iesus Hominum Salvator, or rather: Jesus, savior of humanity - shine. His head is adorned with a flower wreath. In the air above the Jesuit fly angels with various attributes. To the right of this sits Aeterna Sapientia, God's eternal wisdom, with in her left hand an open book and in her right hand a staff above which the All-Seeing Eye shines.
