About this work
A smith in his smithy. He strikes an anvil with a hammer. Under a table to the right, a sleeping dog. The fable describes how the smith complains that his dog only sleeps yet is fed every day, while the smith himself must work day and night to survive. The moral of the story teaches that beggars are exploiters.
