About this work
The offering of Abel. In the foreground, Abel's altar, upon which sheep are offered. The smoke rises. In the background, Cain's altar, upon which vegetables are offered. The smoke of the offering does not rise. Above in the sky, God appears in the clouds. God accepts Abel's offering. The print has a Latin inscription and is the first print in a nine-part series with scenes from the Old Testament.
