About this work
An old woman with a twig over her shoulder and a small child holding onto her, ride on a horse along a country road by the water. Next to them, two foals walk. Over the woman's horse hangs game. The figures and animals are copied from a woodcut by Nicolo Boldrini after a design by Titian. Titian in turn borrowed the old woman from the engraving 'Peasant Family to the Market' by Martin Schongauer. Below the image, one line in Dutch.
